Knicks Vs. Celtics Game 6: Knicks vs. Celts Heats Up, With La La Vasquez Center Of Attention Once Again

As if the history of their rivalry or the high-stakes nature of their current NBA Playoffs opening round series aren’t enough to keep matters juiced, for the second time in as little as six months, rumors about the wife of Knicks star forward Carmelo Anthony have raised tensions with the Boston Celtics to a whole new level.

Following Wednesday night’s Game 5 victory, Celtics guard Jordan Crawford not only sought out Anthony for a verbal assault, the two exchanged barbs in which Crawford reportedly again made reference to La La Vasquez.

In an ealier Madison Square Garden gathering last December, Anthony waited outside the Celtics locker room and stalked their team bus in search of star forward Kevin Garnett after he reportedly mocked him with taunts of Vasquez “tastinglike Honey Nut Cheerios.”

Several players again had to be separated on Wednesday, a situation that eventually prompted Anthony’s famous wife to take to Instagram less than 24 hours later and respond: “Strong women only intimidate weak men.”

As for Crawford, she also seemed to have a bit of personal advice. “Try again,” she wrote. “You’re on the bench for a reason.” She later added, “Some people attack those who have the peace and joy they wish they had!  Pay them no mind! Live your dream, strut and wave.”

For his part, Crawford has denied all such allegations. “I would never talk trash about that man’s wife,” he tweeted Thursday. “I don’t know him… all I did was respond!”

All night long Wednesday, Anthony seemed less then zeroed in, shooting just 8-for-24 and finishing with just 22 points. After jumping out to a 3-0 lead, the Knicks now find themselves having to travel back to Boston for Game 6 now leading just 3-2.

For Game 5, several Knicks players arrived dressed in all black, symbolizing the playoff death of the Celts. That dig came mere hours after J.R. Smith, suspended for Game 5 for elbowing Jason Terry, added insult to injury by claiming “I don’t know who Jason Terry is.”

“I’m a 14-year veteran,” Terry snapped in Wednesday’s postgame interview, after scoring 17 points off the bench. “If you don’t know who I am, you will after the series is over.”
