The home of Miami Heat veteran forward Udonis Haslem was burglarized late last week, marking the second time in just over a month a member of the team was victimized, according to reports.
Police say on Saturday night bandits gained entrance into Haslem’s residence by entering a side door through the garage and prying the lock. Investigators also think an accomplice probably served as a lookout for the intruder, alerting him just as Haslem’s alarm system began echoing.
Star forward Chris Bosh's Miami Beach home was robbed back in early April, with thieves making off with more than $340,000 in rings, watches, purses and accessories while he and his wife were at an area club celebrating his 29th birthday. Local television reports estimated Bosh paid nearly $13 million for the seven-bedroom, eight-bathroom mansion in the summer of 2010 after joining the Heat as a free agent.
Police arrived to find the home ransacked, including drawers in the master bedroom, a woman’s closet and several side table drawers. Pry marks were also found on a nearby safe, but entry was not gained. A native of Miami, Haslem told police several women’s purses and pairs of shoes were missing. No one was hurt and police are still investigating.
The Heat easily swept the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs, and are now awaiting Chicago Bulls vs. Brooklyn Nets winner in the second round.
