Barcelona went into today's UEFA semi-final match 4-0 down from last week's game in Munich and needed a huge turn over in order to make it into the finals.
Barcelona played without their star Lionel Messi, and also with Xavier "Xavi" Hernandez and Andres Iniesta at less than100 percent.
Needing to score 5 goals without conceding any in order to make it to the finals, Barcelona never found their form and found themselves down 1-0 early in the second half by a wonder-goal by Dutchman Arjen Robben.
20 minutes later Gerard Pique scored an own to seal the fate of the Spanish side, and were buried even deeper five minutes later when Thomas Muller scored a header from a Frank Ribery cross that made the score 3-0.
The last time Barcelona lost at home without scoring was in the 2010-2011 season to Hercules early in the season; this UEFA final will be the first time two German teams will meet in the Champions League final.
In the last five editions of the UEFA Champions League, either Barcelona or the team to eliminate Barcelona has won the tournament, in the case of Manchester United in 2008, Inter Milan in 2010, and Chelsea last year.
The final will be in Wembley Stadium on May 25.
