Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson has been diagnosed with a high ankle sprain and the Pro Bowler says he may need some time off to heal up.
Johnson spoke about the injury and said that it would do him a world of good if he were able to get off his feet for a period of time.

"Any time you're dealing with an ankle, you've got to run, you've got to cut, you've got to do all those things," Johnson said. "It makes it tough. Just a lot of treatment that goes into it.
"Takes some time to rest and get off your feet as well.”
Lions coach Jim Caldwell said the team is "strongly" considering resting their star player as his health could be the make or break factor on their season. The Lions are a totally different offense when Johnson plays as opposed to when he sits.
The Lions play their NFC North rival Minnesota Vikings this weekend and if Johnson plays he could be used in a decoy role. He has said this week that if he is going to play he wants to be used normally and not just as a decoy.
Johnson was held to one catch for seven yards last week in his decoy role. Johnson said he would not be shocked if teams start to target his ankle.
"I wouldn't doubt it," Johnson said. "Guys try to take you out of the game if they know they can. So especially if you've got a playmaker, guys on the defense would do that."
