Oscar Pistorius' brother has been criticized in the court of public opinion for allegedly erasing data from Pistorius' phone. A New Zealand café owner now wishes he had erased a Pistorius joke making light of his girlfriend's death before printing it on the bottom of all the café's receipts.
The New Zealand Herald reported that Keith Morrison, the owner of Scorch-O-Rama at Scorching Bay in Wellington, printed a joke on the bottom of the receipts to customers at the restaurant that read:
"Oscar Pistorius was super keen to get a new bathroom door, but his girlfriend was dead against it."
Oscar Pistorius talked to ex-lover on the phone on the night he shot girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp
The café owner said the joke was printed on all receipts from Wednesday-Sunday. The Herald reported that the joke was condemned on the café's Facebook and Twitter pages, and café quickly posted an apology online.
"Scorch-o-Rama would like to apologise for any offence caused by a comment that was put on the bottom of our receipts," the Facebook post read. "The comment was in bad taste and has been removed. We apologise again for any hurt or distress we caused people - it was absolutely never our intention."
The café also pledged $1,000 to Women's Refuge.

The Scorch-O-Rama traditionally printed jokes on the bottom of its receipts. Morrison said the jokes until now had been "pretty safe" out of respect to the number of families that eat at the restaurant.
The owner added that he received two complaints at the café. Morrison said he was considering putting an end to the practice of printing jokes on the receipts.
"Obviously this one hasn't gone down well," Morrison said, admitting to making a "massive error."
Pistorius is awaiting sentencing on a culpable homicide charge in the shooting death of girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in the early morning hours of Valentine's Day in 2013.
Judge Thokozile Masipa found Pistorius not guilty of murder but handed down the culpable homicide verdict. She is scheduled to sentence him one week from today.
Last week, a book to be published claims that Carl Pistorius, Oscar's brother, almost was charged with tampering with evidence after allegedly erasing the information from Pistorius' phone. Pistorius reportedly had a nine-minute conversation with an ex-lover on the eve of Steenkamp's shooting.
The café owner said he would display his mobile phone number in the café's window to allow anyone upset over the joke to speak to him directly.
