Today at 4:25 p.m. ET, the New York Jets (1-3) and San Diego Chargers (3-1) take the field at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego for Week 5 NFL action. The game can be live streamed here. New York fans can hear all of the action on 98.7 WEPN while San Diego fans can do the same on Mighty 1090.

New York is embattled in a quarterback controversy amid three straight losses -- including their latest 24-17 defeat at the hands of the Detroit Lions last Sunday -- while San Diego has been thriving under center and is in search of its fourth straight win after a 33-14 drubbing of the Jacksonville Jaguars last week.

Jet fans grew vocally frustrated with Geno Smith in Week 4 as he continued to struggle and MetLife Stadium was filled with chants for New York's backup Michael Vick while Philip Rivers has led San Diego to three wins in their first four games.

Smith has gone 82-for-136 for 922 yards with four touchdowns and a league-high five interceptions to go with seven turnovers thus far this season while Vick hasn't factored into the offense much at all.

Rivers, meanwhile, has gone 96-for-137 for 1,155 yards with nine touchdown passes and one pick through four games this season and has an NFL-best 114.5 quarterback rating.

Rivers' best target thus far has been Keenan Allen, who has 22 receptions for a team-best 240 yards, but has failed to reach the end zone thus far.

While San Diego has been thriving in most areas, the running game has suffered with the absence of Ryan Mathews (knee) and Danny Woodhead (ankle).

"It's nowhere where it needs to be," Chargers coach Mike McCoy said via ESPN. "There's no excuses about it. We're not running it well enough. We're not blocking well enough. Whatever we're running isn't working. We've got to figure out as coaches and players how to get it done."

It likely won't get much better against New York's stingy run defense that allows a league-low 63.3 rushing yards per game.

While many fans have been an uproar over Smith's poor performance, head coach Rex Ryan hasn't given up on his second-year quarterback despite the fact that Smith could very well be playing for the sixth-year coach's job.

"Because I believe in him," Ryan told ESPN of why he hasn't benched Smith. "I believe that we're going to get it done and I believe that he's going to be one of the main reasons we get it done and get it turned."

To make matters worse, Smith may be without his top receiver in Eric Decker, who is still battling a hamstring injury. Decker has a team-best 204 receiving yards off of 14 catches and has added two touchdowns this season.

One place where the Jets have thrived on the campaign is in the running game as running back Chris Ivory leads the team with 274 yards on the ground off of 50 carries and has added two scores.

The Jets and Chargers continue their 2014 slates when they clash at Qualcomm Stadium in NFL Week 5 action live this afternoon from San Diego.
