Once the face of the Paralympics, Oscar Pistorius is being erased from its existence.

The British newspaper The Independent is reporting that the double-amputee sprinter was omitted in the International Paralympics Committee's list of top 25 moments in the past 25 years.

The IPC Board, consisting of 13 members, went through 750 highlights submitted by the public in selecting the top 25 moments, The Independent reported. It did not mention how many, if any submissions of Pistorius' races, were submitted for the board's review.

Pistorius is awaiting sentencing on a culpable homicide charge after he shot and killed girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine's Day, 2013. Pistorius claimed he thought she was an intruder when he shot four times through a bathroom door in the home in Pretoria, South Africa.

Reeva Steenkamp's mother says no justice was served when Oscar Pistorius was found innocent of murder

She died from the gunshot wounds.

Judge Thokozile threw out a murder charge against Pistorius in favor of a culpable homicide charge during his trial, which is the equivalent of a manslaughter charge. She will sentence him on Oct. 13, and he faces anywhere from a suspended sentence and a fine to 15 years in prison.

The newspaper added that the IPC insisted it did not have an ulterior motive in the snub of Pistorius, who is the world's most famous Paralympian. The IPC said it did place him further down the list.

"Odd that, considering Pistorius' many golden moments," The Independent reported. "Some might question whether trigger-happy Pistorius, once the Paralympian poster boy, and a history-making Olympian, has become an embarrassment to them, as OJ Simpson was to America's gridiron, and is discreetly being airbrushed from history. It seems some of Pistorius' fellow athletes may be turning against him."

The newspaper quoted wheelchair quadruple gold medalist David Weir saying he felt Pistorius should not be allowed to return.

"It would be a circus if he came back," Weir was quoted as saying. "The IPC should take a stand and rule him out altogether. The Paralympic movement should not be about one person."
