Luis Suarez Fined: Liverpool Forward Fined For Biting Opponent

Liverpool forward Luis Suarez was charged by the Football Association with violent conducts and fined by Liverpool for biting an opponent in Sunday's matchup against Chelsea. "The charge follows an incident with Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic in Sunday's fixture at Anfield," The FA said in a statement released on their website.

The Football Association also mentioned that the incident was not witnessed by match officials during the game and had to be reviewed. The FA believes that the standard punishment of three matches is insufficient in Suarez's circumstance, according to the statement.

Suarez has until Tuesday to respond to the charge. In a Premier League match broadcast globally on Sunday, Suarez bit Chelsea defender Ivanovic's arm.

Liverpool also punished their forward not long after being subject to widespread outrage for Suarez's actions. The forward told ESPN that he has been fined by Liverpool for his "unacceptable behavior."

In 2010, Suarez was suspended for seven matches while playing for Ajax for biting a player previously. In 2011, he was suspended for racially abusing an opponent.
