Today at 1:00 p.m. ET the Calvin Johnson and the Detroit Lions (2-1) will head to MetLife Stadium in New Jersey to take on the New York Jets (1-2), losers of two straight games to NFC North opponents. The Jets' secondary has struggled mightily so far in 2014, and they will face the league's top receiver in Calvin Johnson today. The past two weeks have been fairly pedestrian for the man nicknamed "Megatron,"with yardage totals less than 100 yards and no touchdowns. Quarterback Matthew Stafford though sees a breakout on the horizon.

"We're close," Stafford said. "We've just had some missed opportunities. Little plays here and there."

The Jets, meanwhile, are once again trying to quell a budding quarterback controversy. After an up-and-down game from Geno Smith that appears to be becoming the norm, the prospect of turning the offense over to Michael Vick is gaining steam. Head coach Rex Ryan is trying to step in front of that.

"I think everybody's behind Geno," Ryan said. "He's our quarterback and our football team believes in him, so that's it.

"Here's why I believe so much that Geno will improve: I've seen him improve. I've seen him make huge improvements, from where he was last year and from how he progressed through the season, where he's at. But I'll say this: I think he's going to continue to improve. I truly believe that."

Smith may have his No. 1 target, Eric Decker, on the field. Decker couldn't finish the Jets' Week 2 game vs. the Packers because of a sore hamstring, and left the Monday night loss to Chicago because of the same injury.
