Chicago Bears defensive end Lamarr Houston has confirmed that San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick directed the N-word toward him during the teams' meeting in Week 2.

Both men are African-American, and the league has been cracking down on the use of racial slurs and inappropriate language on the field. Kaepernick was subsequently fined $11,205 last week after it was reported he had said a racial slur.

After Kaepernick threw one of his three interceptions against the Bears en route to a 28-20 setback, he said something to Houston and was flagged for an unsportsmanlike penalty. Following the game, Kaepernick claimed that he did say something to Houston after the play, but that it wasn't "racially derogatory," according to ESPN.

Houston told the Chicago Tribune that Kaepernick was, "just saying inappropriate language," which included profanity and the N-word.

Houston said he wasn't annoyed by the racial slur, citing that it was a "cultural thing," and that it didn't insult or bother him.

Houston originally said that Kaepernick didn't use a racial slur on Sept. 14, but the Fox Sports replays showed that he definitely said something and referees later said that the signal caller used the N-word.

Kaepernick has since admitted that he is talkative on the field.

"Yes, I do," he said when asked if he talks a lot on the field via ESPN.

Kaepernick has completed 68-of-94 passes (70.2%) for 694 yards this season, with four touchdowns and three interceptions.
