With Brock Lesnar's contract status being cloudy and "The Beast" not slated to appear on next week's episode of Monday Night RAW, there is some speculation that John Cena may win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship Sunday night at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.

Lesnar is on a part-time schedule with the WWE, so it is possible that he could win the match and just skip Monday's RAW as part of his routine, but it's worth noting he appeared on the Aug. 18 edition of the WWE's flagship show after defeating Cena for the title at SummerSlam.

Wrestlingheadlines.com reports that the WWE has not advertised Lesnar for the post-Night of Champions episode of RAW at the FedEx Forum in Memphis, which could be a sign of the finish on Sunday night.

Will Chris Jericho Appear On Monday Night RAW Next Week?

While this is true, the WWE also has Paul Heyman as Lesnar's mouthpiece for just this reason. Lesnar's original deal he is currently working on was set to expire at Night of Champions, but it's unknown if the WWE worked out an extension with him for more dates.

Lesnar's contract status is up in the air and while there are rumors he may face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 31 in March, it seems hard to believe that the WWE will keep the title on a part-time wrestler for the next six months if a Lesnar vs. Reigns match is in fact penciled in for the biggest event of 2015.

There have been recent reports that Vince McMahon wants Cena to be pushed very strong heading into the big rematch at Night of Champions as he wants Cena's fans to believe in him and not think he is a lost cause after being dominated by Lesnar at SummerSlam.

The strength of Cena's push by McMahon could lead to the WWE opting to put him over Lesnar so that their active face of the franchise carries the belt week-in and week-out rather than a part-time wrestler showing up with the belt every once in a while.

It is worth noting that Lesnar usually appears on RAW the night after big events as he was on the April 7 episode after ending The Undertaker's streak at WrestleMania XXX and as previously mentioned he was on the Aug. 18 edition after defeating Cena.

While things could change and Lesnar could very well end up on the show, there remains a strong possibility that Cena once again overcomes the odds and walks out of Night of Champions with the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
