Former UFC champion Randy Couture was by far the biggest surprise of Monday's episode of "Dancing with the Stars."

Dancing with pro Karina Smirnoff, Couture dazzled the judges with his foxtrot to earn a standing ovation from the studio audience. The four judges gave Couture and Smirnoff three 8s and a 7 for a score of 31 out of a possible 40, putting them in fifth place out of 13 heading into Tuesday's elimination.

The taped package of Couture and Smirnoff's rehearsals showed the UFC Hall of Famer looking a bit clumsy and awkward in his movements. But during the dance, Couture moved smoothly and looked light on his feet.

Couture earned high praise from the judges, especially from Carrie Ann Inaba and Julianne Hough, who both said Couture looked "sexy" during the dance. Inaba even went as far as to say the dance made her "weak in the knees." Bruno Tonioli said Couture was "haute Couture" and head judge Len Goodman, who gave the score of 7, called the dance "lovely" and "well done."

Couture is one of just two fighters to win championships in two different divisions in the UFC. Since his retirement, Couture has been a part of all three "Expendables" movies and currently stars on Spike TV's "Gym Rescue."

Dancers are eliminated based on the combined scores of the judges and audience voting. Actor Alfonso Ribeiro and pro Witney Carson are the leaders after the first show with a score of 36. Check out the full video of Couture's dance below:
