Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu is officially doubtful for his next scheduled start and he is slated to fly back to Los Angeles Monday for an MRI on his left shoulder.

Ryu left his start against the Giants at AT&T Park in San Francisco after one inning on Friday night with irritation in his left shoulder and a long-term loss of the left-hander could hinder Los Angeles down the stretch run of the season and possibly into the postseason.
Dodgers manager Don Mattingly confirmed that Ryu is doubtful to start Wednesday night against the Rockies in Colorado and rookie Carlos Frias is likely to make his second-career start in his place.

Mattingly said his team can take a page out of the book of their American League neighbors the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
"If he's out, somebody else has to pick it up," Mattingly told ESPN Los Angeles. "It's kind of what the [Los Angeles] Angels did when [Garrett] Richards went down. Everybody thought it was the end of the world and, all of a sudden, they've been on fire without him."
The Giants batted around against Ryu in what became a four-run first inning on Friday before the southpaw was lifted in favor of Chris Perez.
San Francisco went on to win the game 9-0, but ultimately lost the three-game set as the Dodgers roared back with a 17-0 shelling on Saturday and picked up a 4-2 victory Sunday.
Ryu dealt with shoulder inflammation that landed him on the disabled list earlier this year from late April into early May, and he said he felt similar symptoms this time around.
"It's a little bit of everything, stiffness and pain," Ryu told reporters through an interpreter.
Ryu also missed some time recently due to a right hip strain and his current injury may foil Los Angeles' plan to throw him, Clayton Kershaw and Zack Greinke in 11 of its final 16 games as it searches for its second straight NL West crown.
Ryu, 27, is 14-7 this season with a 3.38 ERA, 1.191 WHIP and 139 strikeouts.
Following taking two out of three from the Giants this weekend, the Dodgers enter Monday with a three-game lead atop the division. Los Angeles hosts San Francisco in a three-game series starting next Monday in what will be the final regular season meeting between the divisional foes this season.
