Today at 1:00 p.m. ET the Carolina Panthers (1-0) will host the Detroit Lions (1-0) in an NFC clash that fans can check out on Fox or live stream by clicking this link. Panthers fans can tune in to the radio broadcast on WBT 1110 while Lions fans may do likewise by turning their dials to WXYT 1270.

The Panthers' win in Week 1 was one of the more impressive victories of the week because they did it without star quarterback Cam Newton leading the way. Newton, who was nursing broken ribs, is expected to be back in action today.

The Panthers won with Derek Anderson running the show, who got help from rookie wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin. The first-year pass catcher was expected to be raw in Year 1, but his athleticism was enough to get him a touchdown in his first game.

"He did a lot of good things and was very productive, but that doesn't speak to the whole body," Panthers coach Ron Rivera told the team's official website. "His grade should have been higher. He's got to understand how to finish plays, how to be involved in plays even if the ball isn't coming to him. He's a young guy that has to learn those things."

While Newton will be back in the lineup today, he's facing a very tough defensive line that harassed Eli Manning all night on Monday Night Football. New Lions coach Jim Caldwell expects Carolina's vaunted front four to wreak similar havoc though.

"Their front four is a talented group," Caldwell said. "And they have possibly one of the best middle linebackers in all of football (in Luke Kuechly). The guy is active. He is a great quarterback for their defense. He's crafty, he'll hit you, and he has great ball skills. Overall, it's a really good defense, and we'll have to get ourselves ready to go."
