The St. Louis Rams continue to search for an answer at the quarterback position and the idea of trading for one has crossed their mind.

According to Bleacher Report’s Jason Cole, the Rams have shown interest in the Redskins’ Kirk Cousins and the Eagles Mark Sanchez, but are unwilling to part with the asking prices on both players. Cole believes the Rams don’t want to part with a high draft pick for a possible rental at quarterback.

NFLPA Vote Could Reinstate Josh Gordon, Wes Welker

“The Rams are looking at this and saying: We don’t want to overpay and we don't want to be put in a situation where we are giving up a second or third round pick to get a guy like this who could be with us for only one year.”

The asking prices for quarterbacks at the moment couldn't be higher seeing how depth is such an important aspect of the NFL. Teams would have to ask for a potential second-round pick due to the fact that they would be put in the same situation the Rams are in if they were to lose their starter tot injury after a trade.

Cole goes on to say that he believes the Rams could be more tempted to trade for a starting caliber quarterback if the team can string together a series of wins behind their solid defense.

“If they start to win some games, maybe that changes their philosophy on whether or not they are willing to go out and get a better player. Particularly if their defense starts to play better, but as we saw, the defense didn’t play well in the first game either.”

The Rams are expected to be without starter Shaun Hill this weekend and are torn between Austin Davis and newly acquired Case Keenum. Keenum is likely to get the nod if he has a solid week of practice and gains a grasp on the playbook.
