After reports broke that CM Punk's lawyers sent a 22-page letter to the WWE about using his likeness and paying him royalties in order to do so, the company has begun the process of removing the merchandise of the former WWE Superstar.

WWE SmackDown Spoilers For Friday From Pa.

The WWE has taken down the majority of Punk's merchandise from his alumni page on WWEShop.com this week in what appears to be a response from the legal action that Punk, whose real name is Phil Brooks, was seemingly planning to take since the WWE continued to use his likeness after his departure in January and wasn't paying him any money.

The WWE pulled most of Punk's merchandise from its site, leaving only a few small items on it while they have reduced the prices on most of the stuff. The WWE dropped the price on Punk's Best in the World DVD to just $2.99, and the DVD and Blu-ray versions both sold out, according to WrestlingDVDNews.com.

Vince Russo Responds To Spike TV VP Blasting Him

Punk walked out on the WWE back in January due to frustration over the way that his character was being booked and due to being burned out from the rigorous traveling schedule of the company. The organization tried to get him back for a Chicago episode of Monday Night RAW in March and for WrestleMania XXX in April, but he didn't return.

The company then seemingly was given the impression that he wouldn't be back due to the little communication it had with him, and began to move on with the thought that he walked out on them and wasn't coming back.

Punk has made the most of his newfound free time, making various television appearances and surfacing at different Chicago sporting events while he also appeared at the AP Music Awards and said he was "never ever" returning to the squared circle.

Punk also got engaged to and then married WWE Diva AJ Lee, who took time off from the company from early April to late June in order to move in with him.

Punk also recently appeared at San Diego Comic Con on behalf of Nerdist and said he was having the most fun he's had in a long time on Twitter.

While Punk left the WWE back in January, the sides only officially parted ways in July as Punk's contract finally expired and things are said to be worse than ever between the two. The 22-page letter and subsequent pulling of merchandise likely only made things worse.
