Jimmie Johnson suffered from dehydration after Saturday's race at Richmond International Raceway, but he won't let that deter him from his media duties leading up to the Chase to the Sprint Cup.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. Is Ready to Refocus Going into Chase to the Sprint Cup

The six-time series winner and defending champion had to sit out his foundation's triathlon on Sunday, but it appears he's getting back into the swing of things this week. According to a report, Johnson will be in New York Wednesday for the Chase Across North America media tour.

NASCAR will be sending the 16 drivers competing in the Chase to 16 different cities for the promotion. Johnson is scheduled to appear on NBC's "Today" show and "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," ABC's nationally-syndicated talk show "Live! with Kelly and Michael," and "Power Lunch" on CNBC.

Brad Keselowski Confident Heading into Revamped Chase to the Sprint Cup

Johnson won three Sprint Cup races this year and will be the fourth-seed going into the Chase. He finished eighth at Richmond and had to spend nearly 90 minutes in the infield care center to receive treatment for dehydration.

This year's Chase will feature three rounds of eliminations to dwindle the field to four by the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway. The field is deep, led by top-seeded Brad Keselowski, Johnson's Hendrick Motorsports teammates, Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Kasey Kahne, and Joey Logano.

The Chase gets underway on Sunday at Chicagoland Speedway with the MyAFibStory.com 400. A win for Johnson would tie him with NASCAR Hall of Famers Richard Petty and the late Dale Earnhardt for most championships won by a driver.
