When the WWE presents its 28th annual Survivor Series event live from the Scottrade Center in St. Louis on Nov. 23, the company is hopeful that Daniel Bryan will be back as a member of the active roster.

Wrestlingheadlines.com reports that WWE officials are hopeful that Bryan will return to action at the Survivor Series, but they are being very cautious as they don't want to rush him back and risk him sustaining another injury.

Bryan has been injured since mid-May when he underwent neck surgery to repair injuries he sustained through years of wear-and-tear he put on his body from his in-ring style.

Updated Card And Rumors For Night of Champions 2014

It was expected to only be a minor procedure, but Bryan missed the entire summer due to the fact that he hasn't regained full feeling in his right arm after undergoing the procedure about four months ago. Bryan is expected to tone down his in-ring style when he returns.

Bryan's wife Brie Bella -- who is currently feuding with her sister and John Cena's wife Nikki Bella -- reportedly told people while she was doing promotional work for E! Network's Total Divas reality show that Bryan doesn't need a second surgery and will hopefully be able to return soon.

Ever since Bryan underwent his first procedure, there were rumors that he may in fact need a second procedure due to the loss of feeling in his arm, and after several weeks of Bryan undergoing physical therapy and working with doctors, it seems a second operation -- which would have sidelined him for at least three more months -- isn't necessary.

Bryan underwent the surgery just over a month after he defeated Triple H in the opening match at WrestleMania XXX in New Orleans and then went on to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in a Triple Threat Match against Randy Orton and Batista, which was a defining moment in his career.

Bryan was reportedly slated to carry the title into SummerSlam, where he would lose it to Brock Lesnar and have a rematch with him at Night of Champions, which emanates from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on Sept. 21.

With Bryan's injury, the WWE decided to vacate the title and they gave it to John Cena at Money in the Bank in June. Cena has since taken Bryan's spot in the feud with Lesnar, who won the title from him at SummerSlam after ending The Undertaker's streak at WrestleMania.

Survivor Series made its debut in the WWE's pay-per-view rotation on Thanksgiving Day in 1987 and while it has lost some of its luster over the years due to how the company has treated it, it remains known as one of the Big 4 pay-per-views of the year.

The November Classic will be even bigger if Bryan can get healthy enough to make his return on Nov. 23 in St. Louis.
