The American squad enters the quarterfinals of the FIBA World Cup against a Slovenia team that they have seen and defeated before. This matchup should be more of the same from both sides.

America topped Slovenia by 30 in the final exhibition for both teams before the start of the tournament and it was a game in which Pelicans’ center Anthony Davis and Nuggets power forward Kenneth Faried flexed their muscle. Davis finished with 18 points, nine rebounds and five blocks and Faried added 14 points and eight rebounds of his own.

The United States will have to stop the Suns’ Goran Dragic, who is dominating the World Cup by averaging 16.5 points on 58.8 percent shooting and 4.3 assists per contest. Australia’s unorthodox run in the FIBA World Cup has come to an end after being knocked out by Turkey 65-64. The Australian team had tanked a game against Angola in order to avoid the United States in the round of 16, but tripped up against Turkey and were eliminated.

The United States are coming off an 86-63 win against Mexico and Slovenia topped the Dominican Republic 71-61. Winner of this game will go on to play the winner of Lithuania and Turkey on Thursday.
