In the wake of the elevator tape that saw former Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice strike his then-fiancée at a casino in Atlantic City in February being released, ESPN's Keith Olbermann believes that NFL commissioner Roger Goodell should resign for being an "enabler of men who beat women."

TMZ originally released a video of Ray Rice pulling his then-fiancée and now wife Janay Rice's unconscious body out of an elevator at Revel Casino in Atlantic City, N.J. this winter and earlier this week the affiliate released a video of what actually happened in the elevator, proving that Ray Rice struck Janay Rice and knocked her out cold before dragging her body out.

The release of the second video has led to public outcry and the Ravens then acted swiftly by releasing the running back while Goodell and the NFL announced he was suspended from the NFL indefinitely.

Olbermann said he believes that the NFL saw the video prior to its release and tried to cover things up. The league originally gave Ray Rice a laughable two-game suspension for his actions after the original video of him dragging a prone Janay Rice through the casino surfaced.

"We begin tonight with the unavoidable and simple truth that, intentionally or by neglect, the Atlantic County district attorney's office, the Baltimore Ravens, the National Football League and Roger Goodell conducted a cover-up of Ray Rice's brutal assault on his then-fiancée on Feb. 15. There is no other conclusion possible," Olbermann said in the aftermath of the second video.

Olbermann eventually went on to say that Goodell should resign as commissioner of the NFL or be fired.

"Commissioner Goodell, as I first said on this program on Aug. 1, must resign," he said. "If he will not do so, NFL owners must fire him, and fire senior vice president [Adolpho] Birch, and chief counsel [Jeff] Pasch. Pasch, of all people, should've known better than to put the victim on trial and acquit without evidence."

He added: "Mr. Goodell's ineptitude has not merely rendered this football season meaningless and irrelevant by contrast, it has not only reduced supporting or watching football to a distasteful, even a disrespectful act, but most importantly it has comforted the violent and afflicted the victim."
