Roberts touched on his past problems with substance abuse and spoke about his battle with cancer after being released from a Las Vegas hospital due to suffering several ailments, which included shortness of breath and chest tightening during his flight to Las Vegas for an event that was being thrown by Sinn Bodhi.

"First of all I just want to say thank you God for still having me on this planet," Roberts said. "For a long time, I was fighting a hell of a fight that you didn't know about. With alcohol and addiction and the demons in my mind, and it was something I tried to hide and you know...I was ashamed. Because it hurt and I didn't want you to know about me. I'm 59 years old now man, and I didn't think I was gonna live this long. I took better care of myself. But the truth is, the fight that I'm fighting today is just another fight."

Roberts vowed he would overcome cancer and gave some thanks.

"I do have cancer," Roberts said. "But it's cool. Because I'll tell you something, if you can beat addiction you can beat cancer. Through great friends and a great support group...The WWE has been very, very kind in helping me...The WWE got a hold of my children and said, 'Go help your dad,' That's so friggin cool man...Vince McMahon, thank you. WWE, thank you. Sinn Bodhi, thank you," Roberts said.

Roberts, who was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame on April 5 in New Orleans, is sad he can't wrestle anymore, but he looked back on some fond memories.

"You guys have no idea how painful it is to have what you love taken away from you," he said. "And you know, I'm not crying the blues man. 59 years old I kicked some serious a-- for a long damn time. I got my Hall of Fame ring. Koko B. Ware got his first, but I got mine."

Roberts also touched on Diamond Dallas Page, who helped him overcome his personal demons through DDP Yoga.

"Diamond Dallas Page saved my life," he said. "I want you folks to know that friggin yoga works man. DDP Yoga works. I'm just proud to be here tonight because when I woke up and I'd been asleep for three days and I found out I have to have some more stuff taken out of my chest...I'm not afraid man, I'm very comfortable with my faith."
