Too much firepower. Too much Serena.

Serena Williams was too focused on her mission to tie Chris Evert and Martina Navratilova for the third most Grand Slams in women's tennis history to give close friend Caroline Wozniacki hope of winning her first slam.

Caroline Wozniacki predicts U.S. Open final win over Serena Williams?

Williams routed Wozniacki 6-3, 6-3 Sunday in the final of the U.S. Open to complete a 180-degree turnaround of her Wimbledon meltdown and capture her sixth title at Flushing Meadow.

Yet again, it was Serena who answered her critics without answering them to their satisfaction. She was in tears after her victory, crying through the trophy presentation on the court after the match.

Venus Williams the reason for Serena Williams' refusal to withdraw at Wimbledon?

"It was really a wonderful feeling," she said during the on-court interview with CBS. "I'm really emotional. I couldn't ask to (win her 18th Grand Slam title) at a better place."

She then turned to Wozniacki and revealed a little of her tumultuous ordeal at Wimbledon, in which she was disoriented during a doubles match with her sister, Venus, and had to withdraw. Serena couldn't even catch a bouncing ball or get a serve over the net.

She tweeted a photo of herself under the covers a day after and said she was just feeling ill - a statement few people among her peers or the media believe to be true.

"Congratulations to Caroline as well," Williams said. "She's known the struggle I've been through; I text her almost every day."

Williams whisked Wozniacki away to Miami after both were bounced in the early rounds of the French Open. Then, it was Wozniacki who was reeling with the public breakup with fiancée Rory McIlroy. It was speculated that Williams also was having relationship problems with coach Patrick Mouratoglou, who many believe to be or have been her boyfriend.

Williams made sure to compliment Wozniacki, who played tentatively in her first Grand Slam final since 2009 - also at the U.S. Open.

"I know you're going to win very soon, maybe even at Australia (for the 2015 Australian Open)" she told Wozniacki. "I've got to go home and get fit again and get ready for you there."

An equally gracious Wozniacki also expressed her fondness for Williams.

"You really deserved to win," she told Serena. "You are an unbelievable champion, you're an unbelievable friend, and you'll definitely owe me drinks later."
