Costa Rica head coach Paulo Wanchope had this to offer ahead of today's encounter (via Al Dia): "This is a beautiful experience. I had a managerial stint with Herediano. Then, with the project at Uruguay [de Coronado] and went on to become the assistant of the previous head coach of the national team. I think that one has to prove himself to solidify his place as a head coach."

When asked about his opponent, he added: "At this level there are no secrets. We know what Panama are capable of. They obviously know what we're capable of and they know our players very well."

Tactical Preview

Player to Watch: Undoubtedly, Celso Borges performed at a higher level than any member of La Sele in the 3-0 victory over Nicaragua. The 26-year-old dictated the tempo of the match from a deep-lying role before pushing forward to refine the attack in the final third. More of the same will be required against Panama. In his five appearances at the 2014 World Cup, Borges completed 174 of his 200 passes, with five leading to a direct scoring opportunity.

Costa Rica's Projected Lineup (4-2-3-1): Pemberton; Meneses, Duarte, Acosta, Myrie; Borges, Cubero; Wallace, Ramirez, Campbell; Ureña

Panama's Projected Lineup (4-4-2): Penedo; Rodriguez, Torres, Chen, Patrick; Quintero, Henriquez, Gomez, Cooper; Perez, Nurse
