Conference Rival Claims UConn Coach Geno Auriemma Violated Rules By Calling Mo'ne Davis? [VIDEO]

Little League sensation Mo'ne Davis wants to play sports into at least her college years. But she'd prefer to show off her skills on the basketball court rather than a baseball diamond.

Furthermore, Davis wants to do it as a member of the UConn Huskies.

As the pitching star of a Philadelphia-based Taney team that reached the American semifinals, Davis was open about her dreams of one day playing for UConn head coach Geno Auriemma. She was regular seen in Williamsport, Pa., site of the Little League World Series, wearing UConn paraphernalia.

Shortly after Davis and her teammates were eliminated from Little League competition, Auriemma gave her a congratulatory phone call. The gesture should have ended there, but it didn't. A conference rival took offense to Auriemma's action -- telling American Athletic Conference officials that the coach had violated recruiting rules, according to The Hartford Courant.

"The conversation lasted like two minutes and we hung up," Auriemma said. "And then I was told a school turned us in for a recruiting violation because we are not allowed contact of July 1 before her junior year of high school. ... That's the world that we live in."

Davis, 13, is in eighth grade. Auriemma claims he was in no way attempting to recruit Davis, adding that he has never seen her play basketball. The complaining American Athletic Conference school has not been identified.
