IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook was stabbed in the left leg Wednesday in Tenerife, Spain. He is currently recovering at a hospital in Santa Cruz.

Brook also suffered a cut on an arm, according to the London Telegraph. He is listed in stable condition.

The Sheffield, England, native was in Tenerife enjoying the holiday weekend. His girlfriend, who is pregnant, accompanied Brook on the trip.

Details of the stabbing incident have not yet been made available. But, according to a police spokesperson, Brook "lost a lot of blood" during the altercation. The hospital where Brook is being treated is located 50 miles from the incident.

No one has been arrested, but authorities claim the matter is being investigated.

The 28-year-old Brook won the IBF 147-pound title Aug. 16 when he beat Shawn Porter by majority decision in Carson, Calif. Brook has a professional record of 33-0-0 with 22 knockouts.

His name has been mentioned recently as a possible future opponent for Floyd Mayweather Jr.
