San Francisco 49ers Rumors: Ray McDonald Expected to Start? San Fran GM Addresses Status [VIDEO]

The 49ers remain undecided on whether defensive end Ray McDonald will start this weekend when San Francisco kicks off their season against the Dallas Cowboys.

McDonald was arrested for an alleged incident of domestic violence over the weekend only days after the NFL made it’s stance on the crime. The league isn't expected to make a ruling before the 49ers game on Sunday so the team has a decision to make.

The Sacramento Bee reported on the latest from inside 49ers camp.

“The 49ers currently are in “fact finding mode” when it comes to defensive end Ray McDonald, general manager Trent Baalke said this morning, and no decision has been made yet whether McDonald will play Sunday in Dallas.

Baalke did say that McDonald was practicing as usual today.

“Right now it's a legal matter,” Baalke said. “And there's such a thing called due process, and we intend on letting that play out”

Other than Baalke, coach Jim Harbaugh made a hard stance against domestic violence and went as far as to saying that any player on his team found guilty of such crimes will not be on his team any longer.

“I'll speak for myself, I'll speak for the 49ers: We'll not tolerate domestic violence. The second principle, we're firm believers in is due process. And I ask for your understanding on those two principles.”

As of Wednesday morning, McDonald is listed as the 49ers starting lineup for the game against the Cowboys.

If all parties stay true to their word, McDonald will likely play for the 49ers until his day in court is heard. After his court date, look for the NFL and the 49ers to act accordingly very swiftly.
