For the first time since his release from the WWE last month, Alberto Del Rio broke his Twitter silence and thanked his fans for their support during this time.

WWE Invites Michael Sam To Monday Night RAW

Del Rio was fired last month after he reportedly slapped a WWE social media employee very hard after an alleged racist comment was made about him. The employee reportedly said that it was Del Rio's job to clear his plate at catering and when Del Rio heard of the incident he confronted the employee. Del Rio then slapped him after he refused to apologize.

Del Rio was originally going to be suspended from the company, but the WWE, perhaps fearing a lawsuit from the social media worker, opted to release him instead. Del Rio took to Twitter to thank his fans after being silent on social media since his release.

"I'm back, and I want to thank u all for your support. Nothing can stop me, god and my fam. Keep me going. #WrestlingLife #freealberto," Del Rio tweeted.

Del Rio then sent out a second tweet to update his whereabouts.

"In the plane right now on my way to my #mexico to close the deal with my new #casa @luchalibreaaa," he wrote.

Del Rio reportedly has a year-long no-compete clause in America after being released from the WWE, but there have been rumors that he plans on fighting them.

Del Rio reappeared in Mexican promotion AAA shortly after he was released, surfacing as El Patron at TripleMania XXII, which aired on the same night at SummerSlam on Aug. 17.

Del Rio continues his post-WWE career and he made his return to Twitter.
