The final 16 players will face-off on Monday for the right to advance to the quarterfinals of the U.S. Open.

No. 1 Novak Djokovic, No. 2 Roger Federer and No. 3 Stan Wawrinka are still alive in the tournament and will be tested once again as they all play against ranked opponents in this round.

No. 4 David Ferrer was the first and only player in the top 10 to fall in the tournament thus far as he was beaten by Gilles Simon 6-3, 3-6, 6-1, 6-3. Ferrer spoke about the loss and said that he simply wasn't ready for the match and deserved the defeat.

"I was not really prepared," he said with a smile, "because everyone was talking about the cooler day with maybe some rain.

"It was really, really difficult to play. It was hot and it was so humid. I never sweat like this in the last 10 years.”

The round of 16 starts on Monday and the rest of the tournament will continue throughout the week.
