Cesaro defeated Rob Van Dam on RAW to earn the title shot, but the WWE didn't reveal exactly when it would take place on its flagship show and it was later announced this week that it will in fact take place on Sept. 21.

Sheamus spoke about the match with Cesaro being made official on SmackDown fallout.

Update On Jake 'The Snake' Roberts Going To Hospital

"The fellas got a lot of confidence you know?" Sheamus said about Cesaro. "You come to the WWE not just to make up the numbers, but to win championships and that's what I have. I have the United States Championship hanging off [my] shoulder. Now if the Swiss Swinger wants to think he's gonna walk out of Night of Champions with this championship fair play to him, but I have a different idea how that's gonna go."

He added: "And to be honest, with all the respect in the world I have for Cesaro, I know he's the closest thing I've ever faced to being in the ring with myself. But beyond that, at Night of Champions the "King of Swingers"...he better make sure he has a lot more than Swiss cheese in his bag."

The United States Championship bout joins the main event bout between Brock Lesnar and John Cena for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship rematch from SummerSlam as the only other match officially announced for the card.

Other matches rumored for the card are Chris Jericho vs. Bray Wyatt for the third straight pay-per-view, The Miz vs. Dolph Ziggler for the Intercontinental Championship and The Usos vs. Goldust and Stardust for the WWE Tag Team Championships, but those contests have not been confirmed.

WWE Night of Champions takes place live from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on Sept. 21.
