NBA Hall of Famer Julius "Dr. J" Erving will be featured in an upcoming documentary airing on the 30th anniversary of his only NBA championship. "The Doctor" will air on NBA TV on June 10, between games of the NBA Finals, and will chronicle the life and career of Erving and will feature rare footage from his ABA tenure.

The 90-minute program documents Erving's journey from ABA phenomenon to NBA champion, including his 1983 championship run with Philadelphia. One of basketball's best-known high flyers, Erving reflects on his high school days in New York leading up to his early days with the New York Nets before the ABA-NBA merger.

"Unless you played against him or unless you watched him in his prime, you didn't realize how great he was," Miami Heat president Pat Riley told ESPN of Erving.

Erving was elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1993. He totaled 30,026 during his ABA and NBA career and was an 11-time NBA all-star and a five-time ABA all-star over the course of his professional career.
