Both the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers are happy with the way the Logan Mankins trade worked out, but Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is reportedly ‘very upset’ that the team traded away the nine-year veteran.

Mankins Trade Bad News for Richie Incognito

According to Bleacher Report's NFL Insider Jason Cole, Brady isn't pleased with the team for trading Mankins to the Buccaneers and that his initial reaction was ‘very emotional.’

Of course this is the same old song and dance for the Patriots as they have traded players that were seen as cornerstones of the franchise in the past. Lawyer Milloy, Randy Moss and even Richard Seymour were dealt by Bill Belichick around the same time and the Patriots have not skipped a beat.

Rams Interested in Christian Ponder?

The move makes sense for the Patriots for many reasons as they shed the cap hits of $10.5 million, $11 million and $7 million that Mankins was due to receive and they got solid value for him in Tim Wright and a fourth round pick. Cole also reports that the Patriots have been playing with the idea of trading Mankins since after the Pro Bowl when they asked the six-time Pro Bowler to take a pay cut.

Raiders Interested in Trading for C.J. Spiller, Stephen Hill?

It is understandable for Brady to be upset about losing a player that has protected him for nine years, but in the end Bill Belichick has shown time and time again that he makes the hard moves for the good of the team and that anyone is replaceable.

Before you know it, Tom Brady could be the next player on the trading block as Jimmy Garoppolo steps up to the plate.
