The wait to hear what the NFL will do with Josh Gordon is approaching three weeks and the ruling is being dragged out by agent Drew Rosenhaus.

The ruling will be made by hearing officer Harold Henderson, but many expected that the ruling would have been passed down already. Many believe that the NFL is attempting to come to an agreement on a settlement with Gordon, while others believe that Gordon’s agent Drew Rosenhaus is threatening a lawsuit.

“The NFL’s appointed arbitrator has been running a stall game in an attempt to allow the NFL and Gordon to reach some type of negotiated settlement. Gordon’s team has held firm in their unwillingness to talk any deal however. They believe they have at least even odds in any legal showdown.”

Browns coach Mike Pettine has voiced his displeasure with the league about the delay in the ruling and finally admitted recently that the team is preparing to be without Gordon for the season’s start.

The delayed sentencing for Gordon is the latest fumble by the league as they are still recovering from the PR firestorm that came from handing Raven running back Ray Rice a two game suspension for domestic abuse.

Whether it is threat of being sued or a final attempt to strike a deal with Gordon’s camp, the NFL is expected to lay down a ruling on the Browns wide receiver any day. Gordon is facing a season-long suspension for a series of off the field incidents and claims that he registered a false-positive drug test due to second-hand smoke.
