Batista hasn't appeared in the WWE since he "quit" the company in storyline on June 2 to promote Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy summer blockbuster movie, but now it appears that his departure could go beyond kayfabe based on the success of the film.

Roman Reigns And Dean Ambrose May Team Up At Night of Champions

Wrestlingheadlines.com reports that there are many people within the WWE that feel that if Guardians of the Galaxy, in which Batista plays Drax the Destroyer, sees more success, it is likely that Batista will not be in a full-time role in the WWE ever again and there is some speculation he may not come back at all.

Batista left in June to promote the movie, which came out on Aug. 1 and has received mostly positive reviews, and at first there were reports that he was expected back by SummerSlam. The biggest show of the summer came and went without "The Animal" on Aug. 17 and now there is some doubt about his plans for the future.

Backstage News For Daniel Bryan's Status For WWE's November European Tour

According to the report, Batista's future with the company was a hot topic backstage at the WWE's live events this weekend and while there was a feeling that he'd come back to continue his storyline once his promotional appearances for the movie are through, there is a growing concern that it won't happen now.

Batista may not want to risk getting injured now that his film career is starting to take off thanks to his role in the movie. Batista is also likely to yield more roles now that he has displayed his talents in a blockbuster hit like Guardians of the Galaxy.

"The Animal" is reportedly no longer seen as an actor who can only be portrayed in Indie movies and studios may be cautious in casting him if he's performing in a wrestling ring.

Batista returned to the WWE in January of this year on a part-time deal that was reportedly quite lucrative. There were reports that Batista was originally slated to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania XXX, but plans were changed.

With Batista not getting the reaction from the fans that the WWE expected after he won the 2014 Royal Rumble match mixed with the growing popularity of Daniel Bryan, the WWE changed the storyline and the planned singles match between Batista and Randy Orton became a triple threat with Bryan added in, and Bryan left the Show of Shows with the gold.

Batista was reportedly upset about being promised certain things and not getting them upon his return, but he worked the rest of his schedule anyway, making appearances at Extreme Rules and Payback where Evolution was on the losing end of six-man tag matches with the now-defunct Shield.

Batista then was written off of television on June 2 to promote his movie, but he hasn't been seen in the WWE since and its possible that he will not be coming back.
