TNA was able to work out an extension through the rest of 2014 to keep Impact Wrestling on Spike TV, but their long-term status with the network doesn't look good while another channel may also be in play.

Wrestlingheadlines.com reports that even though Spike TV decided to keep Impact Wrestling on its network through 2014 with the switch to Wednesday nights after it was originally reported that Spike wanted to drop it in October, it doesn't mean that TNA's flagship program is safe.

According to the report, there is a feeling within the television industry that the negotiations between Spike TV and TNA are not serious and Impact Wrestling is likely going to be dropped by the network at the end of the year.

Spike has decided to air a mini-marathon of Cops on Thursday night in TNA's old time slot, in what could be an indication of how the network feels about TNA. Spike gets more ad revenue from Cops than it does from Impact Wrestling in that time slot, according to reports.

Spike reportedly wants out of the pro wrestling business and has been planning on dropping TNA since May.

There are reports that TNA has another backup network lined up to be the new home of Impact Wrestling once Spike likely drops it at the end of the year, but it is not said to be a major television network.

Spike is willing to work with TNA possibly on a week-to-week basis at the end of the year until it finds a new home. There is no cancelation date for when Spike will drop TNA from its schedule and the company is hoping to work toward the goal of another network picking up Impact Wrestling once the deal expires.

The future of TNA's flagship show is up in the air, and while the news isn't totally bad it doesn't seem as though Spike TV has any interest in pro wrestling anymore.
