South Korea defeated America 8-4 Sunday to win the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa. It was South Korea's first Little League championship since 1985.

The American team, represented by a Jackie Robinson West squad from Chicago, struggled offensively through the first five innings. South Korea's relief pitcher Hae Chan Choi allowed just one base hit over the first three innings he was on the mound.

Jae Yeong Hwang started for South Korea; he allowed just one hit in two innings of work. Behind its solid pitching, South Korea led 4-1 after five innings.

But in the top of the six South Korea scored four runs to take an 8-1 lead into the bottom of the inning.

Little League games are only six innings, and with Jackie Robinson West showing limited success against South Korean pitching, the game appeared a foregone conclusion.

However, the Americans, refused to go down swinging. With their backs firmly against the wall, the bats for Jackie Robinson West came to life.

The team put together four hits, doubling its total of the first five innings, and scored three runs.
