David Shoemaker, author of The Squared Circle: Life, Death and Professional Wrestling and a journalist for Grantland reported on his official Twitter account that he heard from sources that Bryan will need Tommy John surgery, however it appears as though that report was false.

F4WOnline.com reports that people within the WWE say that Bryan is still being evaluated as to what kind of treatment he needs and there is still no word on if he'll need to undergo a second surgery.

Kurt Angle WWE Return Possibly Nixed

Bryan has been out of action since his initial neck surgery in mid-May that he underwent to repair what was at the time seen as a minor neck injury he accumulated from years of wear-and-tear he put on his body due to his in ring style.

The WWE Superstar is set to tone down his in-ring style once he is finally able to return to action, but it seems as though he isn't anywhere close to returning as he hasn't gained feeling back in his arm following the first surgery.

The need for the initial procedure came just over a month after Bryan defeated Triple H and then went on to beat Randy Orton and Batista for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in a Triple Threat Match in the main event at WrestleMania XXX in New Orleans on April 6.

Bryan spoke to BetweenTheRopes.com during SummerSlam weekend at the WWE 2K15 roster reveal and said that he hopes to face WWE Champion Brock Lesnar when he returns, but he also said that his status is unknown.

"It's still up in the air," Bryan said. "I was scheduled for a surgery on Tuesday but then they called me last week and said they actually want to do more testing before they do the surgery. Which is good in one sense I don't want to do the surgery if I don't need it but likewise if I need the surgery let's get it done as soon as possible because that's gonna be at least another three months."

Bryan may eventually have to get Tommy John surgery, but for now it seems as though the former WWE Champion is still undecided on whether or not he needs another surgery.
