There have been reports that former WWE Superstar Daniel Bryan likely needs to have a second surgery after he hasn't had full feeling in his arm following a procedure to fix his injured neck in mid-May.

David Shoemaker, who writes for Grantland and is the author of The Squared Circle: Life, Death and Professional Wrestling noted on his official Twitter account that he's heard Bryan needs Tommy John surgery, a procedure most commonly associated with Major League Baseball pitchers.

If the reports are true, Bryan is expected to miss a few more months, Shoemaker reports.

"I'm hearing Daniel Bryan needs Tommy John surgery and will be out at least 3 more months," Shoemaker tweeted.

The three months report could be a best-case scenario as most pitchers miss between 12-18 months after undergoing the operation, though since Bryan doesn't throw fastballs for a living, it will likely be quicker than that.

Bryan has been on the shelf since his initial neck surgery in mid-May that he underwent to repair what was at the time seen as a minor neck injury he accumulated from years of wear-and-tear he put on his body due to his in ring style.

Once he does return, Bryan is expected to tone down his in-ring style dramatically.

The need for the initial procedure came just barely over a month after Bryan defeated Triple H and then went on to beat Randy Orton and Batista for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in a Triple Threat Match at WrestleMania XXX in New Orleans on April 6.

Bryan spoke to BetweenTheRopes.com during SummerSlam weekend about his neck injury and said that he was doing a lot of physical therapy while commenting on how up-and-down his year has been.

"It's been tough just because...you know there's been some really good things, but then there's been some really bad things," Bryan told the site. "When my father passed away, that was literally probably the hardest day of my life. But a lot of people can relate to that. I'm not alone in mourning the loss of my father, that's something that everybody kind of goes through. That kind of stuff is just sad."

If the reports of the necessity of Tommy John surgery are true, it is a very recent development as Bryan, who said he wants to face Brock Lesnar when he returns, noted during that same interview that his status for another procedure was still uncertain.

"It's still up in the air," he said. "I was scheduled for a surgery on Tuesday but then they called me last week and said they actually want to do more testing before they do the surgery. Which is good in one sense I don't want to do the surgery if I don't need it but likewise if I need the surgery let's get it done as soon as possible because that's gonna be at least another three months."

Bryan was originally only expected to miss a little bit of time, but it looks like he will be sidelined for at least three more months if he does in fact need the second surgery.
