Two clubs in the top half of the Ligue 1 table will do battle today in a league match between Paris Saint-Germain and Bastia. It wasn't a dream start for the reigning Ligue 1 champions last Friday. After capturing an early 1-0 lead, squandered chances and shoddy defending allowed Reims to enter the half with a 2-1 lead. Fortunately for the club, the ever-graceful Zlatan Ibrahimovic was able to equalize before the final whistle. For manager Laurent Blanc, however, it's the early squandered chances he still laments.
"I can only repeat that PSG are not quite ready in their preparations and we saw that tonight," he told beIN Sports (via Goal). "Paradoxically, I remember my team playing very good football, creating a countless number of chances. The only criticism I have for my players, and I told them this, is that we failed to kill the game."
"We are lacking a little preparation," he added. "I expected to have some difficulties. The result isn't there, but the performance was encouraging for the future."
The club will look to capture the required result at home this afternoon.
