It's the dawn of a new era for one of England's most-storied clubs. After falling from the throne last season, Manchester United return to the pitch with hopes of returning to prominence under new management. Louis van Gaal was handed the reins following the 2014 World Cup and is in high spirits ahead of today's encounter with Swansea City.

"I enjoyed it," van Gaal said of his welcome from the fans at Old Trafford following a successful preseason campaign. "Coming onto the pitch, the fans are shouting and screaming your name. It's also a big pressure. They expect a lot and you can't change everything in three or four weeks, and the players can't change either."

"We have to wait and see and develop," he added. "We need time, but we have won every game up until now and that's fantastic when you see our opponents. We have great confidence to play against Swansea City."

That confidence, however, must translate to meaningful results.
