Punk posted a video of his wife and WWE Diva AJ Lee pouring a bucket of ice water on him to raise awareness for the disease. The Ice Bucket Challenge is an activity where those who are challenged can either dump a bucket of ice water on themselves to raise awareness or donate $100 to ALS research.

"I am CM Punk and I accept the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge from the Minnesota Wild's Matt Cooke and from the Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings' [mascot] Bailey the Lion."

Lee then helped dump ice water onto Punk.

"In return I challenge C.J. Wilson of the Anaheim Angels, Hailey Williams from Paramore and the coach and chief punk on that L.A. Kings team Daryl Sutter."

Punk also wrote about accepting the challenge on Twitter.

"I accept the ALS ice bucket challenge from no twitter Matt Cooke of the @mnwild and the no good @BaileyLAKings. On my way to get a bucket..."

Punk was apparently criticized for supporting the cause and blocked some people on social media because of it.

"Blocking people who feel the need to s--t on raising ALS awareness. What is wrong with you? Ice bucket on the way. Who should I challenge?" he wrote.

Punk walked out on the WWE in January due to his ongoing frustration over how his character was being booked and due to being burned out from the constant travel schedule. Following his contract expiring, it was said that things between Punk and the WWE were worse than ever even though Lee returned to the company in June and currently holds the Divas Championship.

The "Best in the World" has enjoyed many outside ventures since leaving, including various television appearances while he's also popped up at his hometown Chicago Cubs and Blackhawks games.

Since his schedule has cleared up, Punk was able to appear at the AP Music Awards last month where he said he was "never ever" returning to the WWE, and he also worked at Comic Con in San Diego on behalf of Nerdist, during which he said on his Twitter account that he hasn't had "this much fun in a long time."

Punk's longtime manager Paul Heyman recently said that Punk was done with wrestling and that he was under the impression that even if Punk wanted to come back, the WWE wouldn't allow it.

Punk is the latest in a long line of people to take the Ice Bucket Challenge.
