Seoul, South Korea and South Moravia representing the Czech Republic kick off the 2014 Little League World Series Thursday and are expected to put on a close fight to the finish.
South Korea returns to the Little League World Series for the first time in 20 years and Little League International Tournament Director, Patrick W. Wilson, took the opportunity to welcome the team back to the fold.
"It's been 20 years for the South Korea to once again make an appearance in the Little League Baseball World Series," said Wilson "The Asia-Pacific Region is always competitive, and we welcome South Korea back to Williamsport.”
South Korea has two championships under their belt from 1984 and 1985 and will attempt to add a third in 2014.
This is South Moravia second consecutive trip to the Little League World Series and that could prove to be the deciding factor at this juncture of the tournament. South Moravia should be able to grind out a hard fought victory against an equally talented South Korean squad.
If Europe-Africa can pull off the victory, it will be a rare win for them as they usually do not fair well against the Asia-Pacific representative.
South Moravia LL of Czech Republic beats Spain, 11-6, to earn Little League World Series berth for Europe-Africa. Czech team here last year.
