Olympic Hero Kurt Angle is reportedly trying to return to the WWE. It's true, it's true.

Wrestlingheadlines.com reports that Angle has pitched an idea to the WWE that would see him return to the company on a schedule that is similar to the one WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels worked in his final years in the company.

On this projected schedule, Angle would work the bigger shows and make limited appearances, much like guys like Brock Lesnar and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson have done recently with the WWE.

The company has reportedly not shown much interest in having Angle return as an in-ring performer and WWE CEO and Chairman Vince McMahon has been negative on bringing Angle back in the past.

Angle, who won an Olympic gold medal at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, made his WWE debut in 1999 and was a huge part of the company until his departure in 2006 when Angle reportedly asked for an early release from his contract due to health-related reasons.

Angle appeared for TNA about a month later and has been a part of the organization ever since and most recently took an on-screen role with the company as the Executive Director of Wrestling Operations. Angle is recovering from a knee injury, but will be able to return in October.

The Olympic gold medalist has had his problems with substance abuse in the past, and an alleged story of him passing out on a plane recently hurt his chances of returning in the WWE, though that may change.

On top of many other storyline accomplishments, Angle is a four-time WWE Champion, one-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion and five-time TNA World Heavyweight Champion.
