The Indiana Pacers and Detroit Pistons are in the early stages of talks that could send Roy HIbbert to Detroit in exchange for restricted free agent Greg Monroe.

According to Matt Dery of New Detroit Sports 105.1, there has been an increase in buzz surrounding Monroe and that the Pacers have called the Pistons to check on his availability.

Monroe is a restricted free agent and the Pistons have shown no signs that they want to sign the center to a deal that he would find acceptable. Reports are that the Pistons offered Monroe a deal in the ballpark of four-years, $54 million, but the dollar figures differ on multiple reports.

Monroe recently responded to a fan that asked the center how he could turn down a five-year, $60 million deal and Monroe answered with a harsh truth.

Hibbert going to the Pistons doesn't seem like something that is likely to happen solely because he and Detroit’s Andre Drummond both play the same game. They are defensive big men who play near the basket.

Any potential trade is in its infancy and if the two sides are truly looking to pursue this deal there would have to be other moving parts for it to make sense for both sides.
