Mo'Ne Davis has become an overnight phenomenon in the Little League Word Series after she threw a three-hit shutout for Pennsylvania in an 8-0 win over Delaware.
The 13-year-old Davis also fanned six Delaware batters on route to the dominate victory and also clinched a spot in the World Series for the Taney Youth Baseball Association Little League of Philadelphia.
Davis will become only the 18th girl to make an appearance in the 68 years the Little League World Series has existed and she will be joined by Emma March of South Vancouver as her team also qualified for the World Series. This Little League World Series will be the third time that two women will appear in the same tournament.
Davis sports a 70 mile per hour fastball for the Pennsylvania team and said after the game that “This [win] is for Philadelphia.” Pennsylvania will start their quest for the World Series title against South Nashville Little League of the Southeast Region at 3:00 PM ET at Lamade Stadium on Friday.
Just learned Mo'Ne Davis uses "Run The World (Girls)" by Beyonce as her walk-up music.
