As offensive guard Alex Boone enters another week of his contract holdout, the 49ers could look to trade their disgruntled star.

Jets Interested in Asante Samuel

Boone and the 49ers have made no progress on a potential deal that would get the top-tier guard into camp and the situation has San Francisco seeking other alternatives. According to ESPN’s Bill Williamson, there are multiple teams that would want to trade for a guard of Boone’s caliber.

FOXSports.com's Mike Garafolo reports that there is such a high demand for guards at the moment that a feeding frenzy could start for the right to Boone’s services. Garafolo cites that even former Miami Dolphins guard Richie Incognito is drawing interest from teams in need of guard help.

Carl Nicks Retires Due to MRSA Virus

Boone is owed $4 million over the next two seasons after signing with the 49ers with the expectations of being a backup. Boone since developed into one of the best guards in the NFL and now wants to be paid as such. The

Tampa Bay Buccaneers could be in the market for Boone seeing how Pro Bowler Carl Nicks retired earlier this summer due to the MRSA virus.
