Hulk Hogan and Stone Cold Steve Austin are two of the biggest superstars that the wrestling industry created, with the former credited for making wrestling a household name while the latter recognized for headlining the most profitable era in wrestling history.

But Austin believes he was better than Hogan, despite the latter's three-decade run as a top dog in the industry.

"If you're talking to me, it's going to be Stone Cold Steve Austin. If you guys are talking to Hulk, it's going to be him," said Austin on a Texas radio station as quoted by Wrestling Inc.

Austin might have had a shorter career in wrestling but he led the WWE to its most profitable era in history, when he was the face of the Attitude Era in the '90s. Hogan was the WWE's top dog in the '80s but also had a huge run the following decade as the face of the WWE's rival promotion, WCW.

"I respect Hulk Hogan because his career lasted some 30 odd years," Austin explained. "I think I lasted about 15, but during my peak years, I took the business to a height it never seen before.

Still, Austin recognizes Hogan's impact on the industry. He said: "When you say to anybody off the street, 'Hey, do you know anything about pro wrestling?' They'll say, 'Yeah, wasn't that guy Hulk Hogan a pro wrestler?' His name might come to your mind before mine, so I give that guy all due respect. He had a tremendous run."
