PGA Championship Rumors: Jack Nicklaus Believes Rory McIlroy Can Win 15-20 Major Championships [VIDEO]

Many members of the media have been sipping the Rory McIlroy Kool-Aid since he won that last two tournaments, but Rory also has another supporter in the form of the Golden Bear himself, Jack Nicklaus.

Dustin Johnson Tests Positive for Cocaine

Nicklaus was interviewed on ESPN Radio's "Mike & Mike" on Wednesday morning and he said that he believes Rory’s ceiling is the highest he has ever seen. Nicklaus believes that McIlroy can even be better than Tiger Woods if he plays his game.

"I think Rory is an unbelievable talent,'' Nicklaus said. "I love his swing, I love his rhythm, I love his moxie. He's got a little swagger there, it's a little bit cocky but not offensive. I like that. I like the self-confidence in a young man. He's got an unbelievable amount of speed in his golf swing, he obviously hits the ball a heck of a long way. And he hits in there consistently and how he controls it.

"It depends on what he feels his priorities are and that's his call. I think Rory has an opportunity to win 15 or 20 majors or whatever he wants to do if he wants to keep playing. But you just don't know what the guy's priorities are going to be in life 10 years from now.’'

Those are some flattering words from the 18-time major champion, but it could be very premature to dub Rory the best to ever play. The 25-year-old McIlroy currently has three majors to his name and is a far cry from the 15-20 range that Nicklaus believe is a possibility.

PGA Championship the Start of the Rory Era?

McIlroy is in the middle of a hot streak that can only be matched by Tiger Woods in the 2000’s, but will have to keep it up in this weekend’s PGA Championship. McIlroy is a 5 to 1 favorite to take the PGA Championship and claim his fourth major championship in his young career.
