2014 Houston Texans Preview:

Offseason Additions:
QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, RB Andre Brown, DE/OLB Jadeveon Clowney, NT Louis Nix, QB Tom Savage

Offseason Losses:
QB Matt Schaub, QB T.J. Yates, RB Ben Tate, TE Owen Daniels, DE/DT Antonio Smith, S Danieal Manning

Houston Texans Offense:
The Texans will see themselves undergo an offensive renaissance in 2014 as they have Bill O’Brien as their new head coach. Houston still has Arian Foster and Andre Johnson, but it depends on Ryan Fitzpatrick/Tom Savage to keep the ship afloat. Look for DeAndre Hopkins to be relied upon more as Johnson is an aging star and tight end Owen Daniels left town to join the Baltimore Ravens. The quarterback situation is the only thing holding back the Texans offense, but with a solid group of veterans on the squad they should be able to overcome.

Houston Texans Defense:
The Texans have one of the most frightening pass rushes in football with J.J. Watt, Jadeveon Clowney and Whitney Mercilus as well as Brian Cushing in the middle of it all. Houston’s pass rush will make life mush easier for it’s already above average secondary making Chris Clemons and Johnathan Joseph possible breakout players for the defense. The Texan defense should bounce back from a unexpected 2013 and be able to carry the offense while they figure out the new system in the early goings.

Outlook:
The Texans have no choice but to rebound from the abysmal 2013 and with a weaker AFC South they should compete for second place. Things could get messy early as the offense goes through a learning curve, but Ryan Fitzpatrick is a serviceable enough quarterback to steer the Texans to a much better 2014.

Fantasy Outlook:
Arian Foster: No. 14 Overall, No. 7 RB
Andre Johnson: No. 45 Overall, No. 18 WR
DeAndre Hopkins: No. 114 Overall, No. 44 WR
Andre Brown: No. 156 Overall, No. 53 RB
Texans D/ST: No. 157 Overall, No. 9 D/ST

Prediction: 7-9 (T-2nd in AFC South)
