The PGA and Dustin Johnson saga has taken another interesting turn as it turns out the PGA hasn't suspended Johnson, but recognized his attempt to seek “professional help for personal challenges.”

Dustin Johnson Suspended for Failed Drug Test

The PGA released a statement concerning Johnson’s leave of absence and clarified that they have not stepped into the situation at all.

“With regard to media reports that Dustin Johnson has been suspended by the PGA Tour, this is to clarify that Mr Johnson has taken a voluntary leave of absence and is not under a suspension from the PGA Tour.”

It is unknown if this means that the world's No. 17 golfer is free to return whenever he likes, but it is likely that he will not return before the rumored six-month suspension is served. Johnson released a statement to his family and friends as he goes through this difficult time in his life.

“I am taking a leave of absence from professional golf, effective immediately. I will use this time to seek professional help for personal challenges I have faced.

“By committing the time and resources necessary to improve my mental health, physical well-being and emotional foundation, I am confident that I will be better equipped to fulfil my potential and become a consistent champion.

“I respectfully ask my fans, well-wishers and the media for privacy as I embark upon this mission of self-improvement.”

Johnson and fiancee Paulina Gretzky haven’t commented on the status of their weddings and have been engaged for close to a year. Aside from his alleged cocaine abuse, Johnson has also been accused of cheating with other PGA wives on the tour.
