NFL commissioner Roger Goodell spoke to reporters Friday at the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio concerning a number of different topics. Most of the questions were about Ray Rice and all the backlash the league is getting for only suspending the Ravens running back two games following a domestic violence charge.

Goodell spoke to reporters as he arrived in Ohio for the weekend’s Hall of Fame ceremony and answered questions about the NFL’s stance on Ray Rice. Goodell defended the leagues two game punishment of Rice and called the ruling consistent with first time offenders.

“We have to remain consistent. We can't just make up the discipline”

Goodell has publicly defended the NFL’s stance in the Ray Rice saga and has even commended Rice on his ability to take responsibility for what he did.

“I was also very impressed with Ray in the sense that Ray is not only accepting this issue but he’s saying, ‘I was wrong.’” said Goodell.

Rice will miss the first two games of the 2014 season for the Ravens and has said he plans to be the voice against domestic violence whenever he gets his own home life in order.
